W.I.K.E.D DANCE

W.I.K.E.D dance was formed by The Trees Association, a local residents group from Whiston, who thought it would be great to have an inclusive dance for children in the community to have somewhere to go, make friends, keep fit and most of all have fun. From this amazing idea The Trees Association took the idea forward and W.I.K.E.D dance was formed. When W.I.K.E.D. (Whiston Inclusive Knowsley Educational Dance) first started the numbers were small, but soon the word spread and the numbers grew and it wasn’t long before bigger premises were needed. These premises were found in the grounds of Whiston Willis Primary School. In January 2012 the founders decided to retire, handing the baton to Julie Cullen and Helen Greenop who happily took over the running of the group. As time went on and numbers continued to increase, W.I.K.E.D. had to move again, and again bigger and better premises were needed to accommodate the increase in numbers. This was found in our current location which is The George Howard Centre, Lickers Lane, Whiston. W.I.K.E.D dance has now been running for nearly 20 years with dance teacher and choreographer Alan Pugh and assistant Elle at the wheel and run by volunteers, Julie, Helen, Anne-Marie and Libby who all make sure that W.I.K.E.D dance continues supporting our communities and the people in it. TJGF continue to support this project and are so proud to be part of it and the amazing young people who it supports. W.I.K.E.D teaches Street dance for boys and girls aged 3 - 18 and all abilities are welcome. The only thing we ask is that you have fun.
