Local Social Enterprise group MerseyCycle

August seen us working in partnership with Local Social Enterprise group MerseyCycle, which is run by a group of volunteers out of Court Hey Park. MerseyCycle recover cycles from various sources including waste recycling centre’s, and donations from industry and the general public and with the help of their team of volunteers they are refurbished and sold on or given to community projects like our safer bikes project run with Merseyside Police and some of our Knowsley schools.

Recently we were successful in a joint bid from St James Place which included funding to provide:
8 Mountain bikes and 10 BMX bikes (plus helmets etc) for a young peoples project and for people who are looking at getting back into employment. All bicycles are recycled and MerseyCycle will be working with the younger community to recycle some of the BMX’s and on other community projects.

A huge thank you to St James Place and to local associate partner Andrew Grant for supporting this project and for putting us forward.

MerseyCycle also has sales of refurbished bikes throughout the year held at Court Hey Park, Knowsley and also host instruction courses for bike maintenance and safety
